One of the Good Ones

by Geoff Johns

There are a lot of books out there. A lot of really great books. But this is just one of them...

PVP #1
written & Illustrated by Scott Kurtz

PVP #1

The back cover alone is worth the price of this book.

What is PVP about?

PVP stands for Player versus Player and, quite honestly, what it's about isn't as important as what it does. I laughed more at this comic book than any I have in a long, long time. God, that was fun. Now where the hell is issue #2?! Bi-monthly?! Wait...I can see the strip on-line? At www.pvponline.com?? Every day?

Yep.

I don't know how crazy Scott Kurtz is, but he's gotta be a little nuts. A lot nuts. His website alone, where he shows this daily strip, dates back like five years. It's about time he collected a bunch of his strips into a book monthly (forget this bi-monthly stuff... you do the strip every day!). And we're all lucky for that.

I had the pleasure of meeting Scott last year in Texas at a con where I picked up a few books of his (like all of them, my wife is a huge fan) and I read them on the plane home. My reaction was the same. I enjoyed every panel.

An interior panel from PVPPVP centers around a gaming company and the staff within -- including a troll named Skull (don't ask just go read this). The characters are fun, sarcastic and witty -- and I love the setting. I'm into video games and it's fun to see that world as a backdrop -- fun and scary. Scott must have a lot of experience with gamers because he nails them spot-on again and again. I can actually fit some of my friends over the characters -- including Skull.

Scott -- when do I get my Skull soft toy?

Check out www.pvponline.com and go from there. Like what you see, go pick up PVP #1.

And get this book out monthly, Scott!
